Amazing work. :o This is fabulous! Kitsunes and elemental pieces are common, but I absolutely love what you've done here. Your personal style, skills, and chosen details have really made these something special. I love the use of varying line widths on them, and that you've been able to give all four such amazing texture without using the outlining black- Just straight color. Outlining the kitsunes only and leaving the backdrops freehand really caused each of them to pop forward in their respective pieces. The extreme appropriateness of every carefully-placed detail makes the piece come off fabulously deliberate and professional. I love how each has a mask perfectly designed for its element in both color and design.

On the kitsune earth, I love the splash of color the yellow orbs give. The rich browns are pretty as-is, but the yellow sets them off fabulously and really brings the color scheme together! I'm also loving the subtle pink and blue in the shading- I had to download to see that! It adds a marvelous richness to the color and keeps it from being overly monochrome. I love the mask and leg wrappings, and the pose, while not overly exciting, is very beautiful and seems to give the kitsune an attitude of majesty and authority. The distribution of the tails is very pleasing in this one, and the curving effect of the earth under the kitsune's paws really seems to direct the eye toward the middle, to focus on the subject. It also balances the distribution with the prodruding rocky crags against the sky. Kitsune earth is my favorite.

Kitsune air is wonderful as well. Normally I'm bored by pale blues and whites, but you've done an incredible job with them here! Not only does the color scheme fit the element to perfection, but your skill has pulled it off with extreme detail and depth. Once again, the pose is very well done and highly fitting for this airborne kitsune, and I'm simply loving the puffs of air coming from its paws! The fur texture looks very delicate on this one, the most delicate of the four. Pale colors have a tendency to do this, but the effect overall gives the air kitsune a light and airy look that really sets it apart from the others both in color and appearance.

I think the kitsune water is perhaps the most beautiful of all. The fur texture is the most dramatic of the four, as is the lighting with the gorgeous moon and stars shining down. It's a bit monochromatic, but the shading is strong and dramatic and keeps everything in the piece individually articulated even with the limited palette. Once again, the pose is perfect, giving this elemental kitsune the graceful, attention-commanding beauty that fits it so well. I like the long, trailing tufts of fur coming off the legs, very reminiscent of the movement of this kitsune's element. Incorporating the moon was a great touch, because of the relationship between the motions of the moon and the motions of the ocean water. I'm just glad that you've made the shine on its orbs so noticeable and with good, thick outlines, otherwise they'd be lost amidst all the blue.

And last, kitsune fire in its blazing glory! Very, very eyecatching! Right off the bat, I'm loving the contrast of the flame colors against the stark black. This one's pose is the least interesting of the four to me, but the piece as a whole is the most eye-catching because of the color use. Very creative going for the magma rather than just flames, as is often done with fire-elemental pieces. I also love the black chunks breaking up the magma; they make it much more interesting and eye-catching than it would have been otherwise. The rich, dark reds of the cavern walls add a lot of depth to offset the bright magma, and using them in the kitsune's fur gave it a lot of depth. The flaming paws look wonderful, as well.

Amazing work, through and through... I'm in awe of your talent!

oh wow, thanks for the comment and all the thought you put into it! I'm so glad you say that about the fire kitsune's pose, as it was the one thing that really bothered me in the series of 4, but when i brought it up to friends and whatnot they 'assured' me it was fine. I prefer the truth sometimes. heh. ^_^

Thanks again!

My pleasure. :)

I understand that you will be selling posters at a con... But will you be making prints available to people through DA or other means? I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd be interested!
